Smart Home before selling: When does additional technology make sense?

Judge technology based on its usefulness, usability and handover – not based on as many devices as possible.

Additional technology is worth examining if it solves a specific usage problem and can be handed over in an understandable manner. Before a sale, a simple, documented system is often more convincing than a barely explained collection of functions.

Start from need

Should shading be made easier to control? Is there any planned heating modernization? Are access functions required? Only after these questions can you assess the costs and benefits. A new control system does not correct unknown defects in the electrical system or building envelope.

Systems and responsibility

KNX describes the connection of various building functions; Loxone provides documentation for its control. Which solution is right depends on the building and the existing installation. Planning and electrical work must be carried out by qualified specialists. A general IMLU page does not replace this test.

Think about the buyer

  • Which functions can be operated without an app?
  • Who has administrative access and who can transfer it?
  • Where are the configuration, instructions and maintenance instructions located?
  • Which updates or services are necessary for operation?

Questions like these should be asked before placing an order. IMLU can discuss smart home options as part of a custom upgrade; they are not automatically part of every Fix & Share project. For orderly document handover.
